Set firmly in the HD Universe, Los Santos County reflects a contemporary America, replete with urban legends about past events from older games. This is the version of the world featured in GTA V.
Lore Guidelines
- Use HD Universe elements by default in RP.
- If something doesn’t exist in HD but does in the 3D Universe, it may still be used.
- If no fictional equivalent exists, real-world brands or newly created names are acceptable.
Anachronism Alert: Avoid referencing things that don’t fit the universe or timeline.
The GTA United States
Although the GTA maps appear island-like for gameplay purposes, lore-wise, the United States exists as a full continent. Cities like Liberty City (New York–inspired) or Los Santos (Los Angeles–inspired) may resemble real-world places but often blend multiple sources.
Key Notes
- Liberty City combines elements of NYC, Detroit, and Philadelphia.
- Carcer City (3D Universe) is a darker, crime-ridden counterpart—think rust belt noir.
- Rockstar retained real-world references in music tracks, but these are considered artistic liberties, not canonical proof that cities like Compton or NYC exist in-universe.
